Out with the old in with the NEW!

Hello Frightners!

As you can tell by the lack of posts these past few months Fright Radio has been in deep hibernation. REAL DEEP! Like Han Solo Hibernation deep!

I personally had to step back and take a look at the show as a whole and figure out where I really wanted to go with it as there are already so many great Halloween and Haunt related podcasts and publications out there that provide great information on the industry.

I needed to take some time to think about "if it were me what would I want to listen to, what would I want to talk about?"Now don't get me wrong, I love the content we were providing and we had so many awesome contributors that were producing some great segments that I was super excited to share with our listeners but personally I didn't feel fulfilled and that is bad when your only 6 or 7 shows in to what you had planned to keep going for some time. I didn't want to just close up shop or waste the time of the people who were helping me create the show because that is simply not fair to anyone so I figured it was best to hit the pause button and truly think about what Fright meant to me and pick a path for it to continue to go. Once those questions got answered and I found a solution that worked I would continue to soldier on with the best show I could provide.

Now obviously I didn't want to stop talking about haunting, halloween or horror because it's a part of me and what I love to do so as I delved deeper into that passion the word lifestyle came to mind. As a haunter and Halloween enthusiast I feel that my love for the holiday and for haunting doesn't just start and end every October, it's year round and goes hand in hand with my daily living and I assume this goes for every Haunter out there.

We live, eat, breath and love Halloween. From the clothes we wear, the decor we decorate our homes with to the very food we eat and drink, it's all about Halloween. I know haunters who have haunt shirts, one for almost every day of the week! There are haunters whom I know who continue to strive to find an try the latest pumpkin ales. Some who love © Haunted Hot Sauces for their food, or need © Deadly Grounds which a haunt themed coffee to help jump start their days. Some of us love collecting horror and Halloween themed toys, art, sculptures, etc. The point is is that it consumes us. We search for it, we live it every day.

It's the lifestyle of haunting that I personally love and the art, design and culture of it fully interests me to it's very core and that is where the focus of Fright Radio will turn. We will strive to to dig into the culture of haunting and bring our findings to the masses and how we intend on doing that is what comes next but when?!!

We do have a plan in place and will start rolling that plan out shortly. This blog is a big part of that as is the radio show which will re-debut soon and will focus on the culture of haunting featuring art, design, collectibles and more.

It's a new adventure and one we intend on staying true too but of course we understand that the proof is in the pudding right?! So let us prove it to you, the listeners, the Frightners!

I will have another post coming soon that will contain something really fun to help drive our content so please continue to check in here the :Fright Radio Facebook Group Page

We will be back very soon and ready to roll on a brand new adventure in haunting!

Hannah Moon - Special FX Makeup Tutorials.

Hello Frightners!

I wanted to take the time to welcome our newest Fright Team Member Hannah Moon!

For those of you convention goers you may have met Hannah or even taken one of her Special FX Makeup classes, she recently taught one at HauntCon this year.

Here is a little about our newest resident Frightner as per her Bio on the HauntCon website:

Hannah Moon of MoonRiseFX was born and raised in Tampa, FL. She is a self-taught special effects make-up artist that has had a passion for the horror industry since childhood. Commercial costumes were getting too cookie cutter, so she decided to create her own custom pieces. Outside of mutilating herself and others with special effects make-up, Hannah is a full time veterinary technician student at Saint Petersburg College and a part time veterinary assistant.

We are very excited to have her as a part of our show. Currently Hannah will be providing some great video content for the blog where she will teach us some how-to make up effects and various applications of these effects. Her first video is listed below where she explains some of the basic items you will need while creating some of your very own gorey and realistic appliances.

We hope you enjoy!
